Dog Crate Training Testimonial

This testimonial comes from a client that I have been working with for several months.  After much consistency and patience, he finally had success with crate training!  I hope that his message will be an encouragement to all of you during the crate training process:

Dear Shelby,

It has been a while, but I am back with good news.  Lola has accepted her crate.  It was a slow progression, but by about 6 months after our last correspondence she suddenly stopped messing with her crate.  Prior to that she would go a week or two and then have an incident.  Towards the end she would reach about 2 or 3 weeks without any incidents.  At about the 6 month mark, though, it was almost like a switch went on in her brain and she didn't bother with messing up her bedding, hiding her toys, or chewing on the crate.  The bedding is perfect and she leaves her toys on top of the bedding and does not try to hide them anymore.  She is calm and relaxed when we leave and doesn't show too much excitement when we are home.  We were consistent the entire time during her training.

She always received plenty of exercise the night before.  We did add in the crating her 30 minutes before departure to our routine (normally 10 minutes before).  We also didn't immediately let her out or get excited when we came home.

I would like to thank you for the advice and support.

Regards,
Dan/Cassie & Lola
